Not too long ago we built, one of our regular customers Martin Stack (DJ Skillmaster), an adept professional PC for his long established music career (Check out the facebook post of us building it). Just like many customers that come into our store Martin started with a free consultation to go through the needs and requirements for his new system. We offer our consultations to ensure our valued customers get exactly what they want within their established budget (book your free consultation here).
The new system had to meet the high demand of a professional career so Martin specifically needed a system of the highest quality and performance. This particular PC was designed and built with Martin’s requirements in mind. We build PCs for all professions including CAD, graphic design, game developers, architects or engineers to name a few.
“I used to start rendering, put on the kettle and be finished with my tea before I saw progress,
now my rendering is done before the kettle finishes boiling!”
After our in depth consultation with Martin we began to design the new PC. Given the nature of the demanding work Martin needs to carry out on a daily basis it needed to be fully capable of running a range of professional software suites. The first of many important choices was the motherboard, this was vital as it is the platform the rest of the PC is built from. For this we decided on the highly sophisticated ASUS Prime Z390-A. We then made a choice on processor, the formidable Intel Core i9 9900K 8 Core 16 Thread power house. The flagship Coffee Lake CPU is capable of boosting up to 5GHz across all cores we knew this would be perfect for the job. To keep the processor cool when Martin was applying his heavy work load we fitted the GameMax Iceberg 240mm AIO Liquid Cooling system. Next up was RAM the system boasts a mighty 64GB of Corsair Vengeance 3000Mhz DDR4, this is more RAM than your average server!
For the C drive we provided the latest Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 SSD for mind bending booting times of sub 10 seconds, that’s quicker than an average monitor can power on and display. The Samsung Evo is even big enough to install all of Martin’s software onto, meaning faster production of all work. To coincide with this we fitted an additional 2TB of SATA SSD storage to deposit large sums of data without clogging up the C drive.
Martin also required a new monitor this was our next stage of the design phase which would dictate the final two core components, the graphics card and power supply unit. We specifically chose the monitor before hand as Martin would require a GPU powerful enough to drive his display resolution and a PSU to be able to provide enough power for the GPU. So with everything in mind we discussed our vast range of monitors with Martin from 144hz freesync, 4K HDR to ultra wide WQHD. For a professional such as Martin we decided for multi tasking purposes and clarity within his production suite, an Acer 34″ Ultra Wide 100Hz WQHD was the perfect solution.
With the monitor decided on we set upon choosing the graphics card, an ASUS GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5 Expedition. Plenty powerful enough to drive the Acer’s eye popping 3440×1440 resolution and any visuals being produced at 100Hz. Powering everything is the Corsair RM750X 80+ Gold Modular PSU, we even chose the white edition to match the aesthetics of the ASUS Prime Z390-A, producing a stunningly beautiful effect internally.
The last component, a case not only pleasing on the eye but could contain the beast within and dampen any sound that may interfere with Martin’s work. The GameMax Ghost Silent case we even couldn’t believe how effective the sound dampening was on this case, if there where no LED’s you wouldn’t be able to tell it was powered on!
The finished product in Martin’s words, “it’s a life changer, giving me more time to be creative and not waiting around for rendering which used to put a damper on the job”
“I am well satisfied and would certainly tell all my friends to visit Web Systems for their dream machine!”
