Leaked Intel i9 10920X benchmarks, reveal devastating blow for AMD’s Threadripper 2920X
It’s all go during the latter half of the year, or so it would appear. Last week it was revealed that AMD and Nvidia were battling it out and now Intel are taking a pop at AMD’s market too.
Whilst AMD are busy getting ready for the launch of its 3rd Generation Ryzen Threadripper, Intel are lurking in the background and getting geared up to released their most powerful and high performing CPUs ever seen.
According to techradar.com, “The chip giant boasted that this new high-end desktop (HEDT) processor has been driven forward on the AI acceleration front courtesy of Intel Deep Learning Boost, which gives users an AI inference boost of 2.2x compared to the previous generation.”
We managed to get hold of some benchmarks and stats from HotHardware 2nd Gen Threadripper review, Intel Core i9-10920X scores from the Geekbench database and some compiled stats from wccftech.com. We know that vendors like to embellish the truth sometimes when it comes to their performance reviews. However, if the leaked benchmarks for Intel’s upcoming Cascade Lake-X 12 Core i9 10920X CPU are anything to go by then Intel’s boasting may actually be more accurate than we’re giving them credit for.
AMD’s 12 core Ryzen Threadripper 2920X is definitely defeated in terms of its performance levels when compared to Intel’s 12 core.
Khalid Moammer from wccftech writes “The 10920X delivers more than 12% better single threaded performance in Geekbench 4 and more than 30% better performance in multi-threaded performance in the same test. In fact, it manages to even outperform AMD’s 16 core 2950X in both single-threaded and multi-threaded performance which scores roughly the same as its little brother in the single-threaded test and around ~35700 in the multi-threaded test.”
The saga continues
The Geekbench stats give us a good idea as to what we can expect from this new release but like all predictive tests, they have their limitations. Moammer continues “Any way you slice this, it’s clear that the CPU wars are about to go absolutely nuclear! and it’s going to be amazing to watch.”
Since the leak was revealed, Intel have now officially taken the wrapper off the Cascade Lake-X 12 Core i9 10920X and also slashed their prices. Will AMD be able to compete? Are there any other chip giants out there that you think knock these two out of the park? Let us know your thoughts.
